Teaching and Charity in the Asia Pacific

I recently attended the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Congress in Hong Kong. I was kept busy, having been invited to give 3 lectures, 2 on cataract surgery and 1 on crosslinking for keratoconus. In addition, I chaired a session on scientific papers looking at advances in the treatment of corneal diseases.

I also took part in the APAO Charity Run. This year, all donations raised by the charity run/walk will be shared between Blind Sports Hong Kong and the new APAO Satellite Congress educational program. It was inspirational to see many blind athletes run the course with their guides. Most of them were much faster than me! I felt humbled by their determination and courage, and I returned to Australia with renewed enthusiasm.
